Ron is a Chemical Engineer who retired from PPG Industries after 45 years in
manufacturing management of coatings for automotive, consumer, industrial and
container coatings (Beer Cans!) customers. Ron began wood turning in Atlanta in 1986
and has had the opportunity to meet and learn from fellow turners such as John Jordan,
David Ellsworth, Rudy Osolnik, Ray Key, Liam O’Neill and others. Ron has no particular
specialty and does enjoy making and embellishing his creations, but doesn’t care to
make multiples of the same thing. His saw dust and chips include many varieties of
wood, but he does enjoy turning cherry the best. He was a member of Turners
Anonymous in Pittsburgh for 20+ years before moving to Spotsylvania and joining the
Richmond Woodturners. He has been an AAW member since 1992. He was “invited”
to become an officer of Richmond Woodturners as the Program Manager and is grateful
for the invitation and pleased to contribute to the growth, enjoyment and development of
our members. Woodturners are always willing to help, share and enjoy the creations of
other turners.
